The instant I entered the ashram I was at peace. I mean it. Just a bit of my spiritual back ground, I studied my 8 to 10 grade at a Spiritual boarding school. Good old memories from school days came back. I was more stunned to see that not having the gift of insight, one rarely knows how far one will drift having embarked on a reckless life. At time we forget what we would have already experienced and embark on a life which we thing is right. Just for the books I am an atheist, not by birth but by choice. I believe in myself and humanity.
So, I went to the reception and met a guy called Ram, he had an agreeable satisfied feeling on his face. He gave me a form to be filled, after which I was given a florescent orange tag with my course details and my name on it. I was wondering, how in the world...where ever you go, you got to wear a tag. I mean I wear one at work all the time for over 6 years now. Anyways, filled the form and I was lead to my room. Room 122 at “Aparna” block, the room is a 22 * 16 kind of room with 3 cots and bed. I was told I may have to share the room with few other people, its 3 hrs since I came and no one has turned up yet. Though, I have some pretty gals staying on either sides of my room. :)
Alright, I dropped my bags in my room. After which I went to check the place where they serve food, as I was educated dinner would be served between 7-8pm and I didn’t want to miss my dinner. (For the books, I was stuck in traffic for over 2hrs, it took me 2.5hrs to drive down from my house. So, technically I was starving). Dinner’s menu was 2 chapatis, rice, dal and sabzi. Though the food was bland I didn’t mind.
After dinner, I wondered around a bit in the ashram thinking about my school days, how my life has been these 29 years. Later I got back to my room and got online to check my office mails and to update my blog.
Actually I do not have any expectations out of AOL; it’s just that I have heard a lot for everyone around me that I thought let me experience it myself. So, here I am at the ashram waiting for today to end and a new day to begin.

A year back someone told me about Art of Living . I have heard a lot about Art of living from my sister, mom, dad, friends and especially my HR friend at work Ujval Shankar (All of them have experienced the course). So, finally today I received a message about a course which will start at the Art of Living International centre Bangalore from tomorrow. Just came in at the right time when I needed a break from work to experience something different than usual. So, I grabbed the opportunity and have registered for the 3 day course starting tomorrow. I am waiting to experience the course 1st hand myself, I would try my best and update my views and experience here every day, for the next 3 days. Keep checking.
Till then be good.

yesterday. Two of my office guys from a different project were
dicsussing about work. Let me address them as guy1 and guy2. Now, back
to where I left, guy1 was saying 'how he did not get the promotion? And
how his Managar was empathysing his situation? Guy2 who was listening
ended the talk with ' It's just the Colors of error'.
I have been thinking about it, how is 'colors of error' related to
that guys situation or topic. Rather in what content did he mention
the phrase. Is it the quantamization of the error or is it the
behaviour of his manager. Alright, let me put all angles to this whole
situation and see where does the phrase colors of errors fit in?
1. The manager didnt give ontime feedback and coaching, which resulted
in the guy 1 faliur
2. The competency of the guy1 was not up to the managers expectations
3. Its just that his manager had a favourite who got promoted
4. The guy1 skills was not showcased at the right oppourtunity at the right time
5. The guy1 didnt share a good rapo with his manager
Umm. These are few instances or incidents which occur to me that might
have caused guy2 to say 'colours of error'. But, again I am not
convinced with my above assummption of the phrase. May be I need to
rethink and re write this whole 'Colors of error' thingy...

Ok, I am back to thinking about Colors of error, these words have a lot to say. But along the way, I might get you confused with my thoughts at times, may be most of the times.
I searched for people answers to this phrase "Colors of error" on Google and I couldn't find a damn thing. Let me bring to a close with my views, "Colors of error" to me means diverse behavior of carrying out an error, or multiple errors committed in a different way. Man, this is getting no where, let me just stop here and ask people all around this question…

S P O I L E D UNDER-30 CROWD!!!
When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears
With their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning
... Uphill... barefoot…
BOTH ways
Yadda, yadda, yadda
And I remember promising myself that when I grew up,
There was no way in hell I was going to lay
A bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it
And how easy they've got it!
But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of
Thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.
You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my
Childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it but you kids today you
Don't know how good you've got it!
I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, We had to go to the damn library and
Look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!
There was no email!! We had to actually write
Somebody a letter, with a pen!
...Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!
There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to
Steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!
Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!
We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you
Were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!
And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either!
When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school,
Your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you
Just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!
We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video
Games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games
Like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You
Actually had to use your Imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or
Screens, it was just one screen
Forever!
And you could never win. The game just kept getting
Harder and harder and
Faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!
You had to use a Little book called a TV Guide to find out what was
On! You were screwed when it Came to channel surfing! You had to get off
Your ass and walk over to the TV to change the Channel and there was no
Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons
On Saturday Morning. Do you Hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK
For cartoons, you spoiled
Little rat-bastards!
And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat
Something up we had to use the stove .... Imagine that!
That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids
Today have got it too easy.
You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted
Five minutes back in 1980!

People who wished me, my darling sis as usual called me 4 hrs prior to my birthday and wished me as she wanted to be the 1st one: D. I reminded her I still have 4 hrs to get old, then came wishes from my pal loky, Vinzz, Ashok,Rachana, Deepa, dad, mom followed by few friends. Deepa and I are the only two scorpions in the Gang. It felt nice to know that I existed; coming to the thought of being alone itself is so scary.
Umm. Alright, sitting at home with my laptop, Memories do come of my 29 years of life at a price, the price of pain. Not a wonderful birthday, today I have no one around me, friends are far away, sis is far away, mom dad have gone far away to my Aunt’s place . I wonder if it took me, 29 years to be all alone on my birthday.
Oh well. I can spend my time procrastinating on or move my ass out and hit the road and do something about today. Before I go here is what you can think or rather answer. What is "Chaos Theory"? I will write about it some other time.

Rupee breaches 50/dollar level in the intraday trade as the greenback posted gains against most major currencies. After hitting an all time low of 50.15, the rupee closed at 49.95/96. This is the 11th straight week where rupee has lost ground. Report released by Britain shows the economic output shrinking for the first time in 16 years by 0.5% for the last quarter (Jul – Sep ’08). In Japa, the Nikkei plunged 9.6%, hitting its lowest level since April 2003.
Every company is on a job cut spree. The only Indian Company's which are benefiting with the rupee slide are the exporters, like my company which exports services.
Just few months back, when the Stocks were at a 21,000 mark I had planned to invest. But my sister said, "don’t invest keep your dough in a fixed deposit". I did listen to her and didn’t invest. Thank God. Though, I feel really sad for the people who lost crores of rupees in the market presently. Hope for a better tomorrow. For more news ---> go to the end of this page.

As this is life, you got to live your life as it comes and I have no complains, though I feel sad I have a good friend departed from me for something which I feel Life is not fair at times. Ummm... Now it’s time to bed and I have some random mixed thoughts, I will talk to you in sometime...I just got 22 hours to celebrate my birthday or to feel sad for missing a friend.

Yesterday, a friend was between jobs and I asked her views about Inflation and the root cause. It's just that I like to have other peoples views on issues realted to my thoughts, it gives a different perspective.
Her views
Dynamics of Inflation
----------------------------
What really is Inflation? I am sure a layman in this century can answer this Q too. It’s not an unfamiliar /unheard term since its strongly connected to our daily lives; in fact people in every strata of the society must and should known what it means, for the simple reason that its
invariably related to our purchasing power!
Well Wikipedia defines it as "a rise in the general level of prices of goods and services in an economy over a period of time". It can also be described as a decline in the real value of money (a loss of purchasing power). But the mechanics of inflation have baffled even the most astute of financial experts. Needless to say the reasons for inflation are complicated!
I believe that in the recent times, the major causes for the rise in inflation have been extreme imbalance in global economy, currency crises; US subprime mortgage crisis, soaring oil prices and fluctuation in prices of goods and services. In fact all these factors are in some way interconnected to each other, resulting in one leading to the other.
Controlling inflation has become a priority for the Indian government now since earlier inflation (i.e in the nineties) was caused by domestic factors, but things have changed significantly. If you look at the workings of the US economy, its evident that the US economy consumes massively leading to trade deficits. The country is intensive in imports but exports little. This evidently affects developing economies like India.
The other reason for a sharp rise in inflation is of course the impact of high oil prices on food products, since it involves agricultural as well as transport costs. High costs of energy directly translate into higher costs of cultivation, and therefore higher prices of output. And this results in inflation.
And of course how can you sideline the appreciating value of rupee against the US dollar. The Rupee in the recent past was growing stronger against the dollar; this was good news for the importers since they ended up shelling out less units of the local currency for each unit of dollar to pay for their imports. In contrast the exporters were at a losing side as they got less units of local currency in exchange for their earnings. A strong rupee translates into Indian goods and services becoming costlier (and hence less competitive) in the international market. On the other hand, the effect of a weak rupee (against the dollar) is exactly the opposite. Interesting huh!
The RBI has come up with a number of methods to tackle the problem of inflation; it has to certain succeeded in doing so. But I bet there is no panacea to this problem since situations arise and things change so much with time. And every problem brings along with it newer problems that need to be handled differently!
As a management student i can only share my views on this coz am not expert at this. So that is as far as my knowledge takes me :)

Root cause for Inflation?
There are 1000 answers and more to this question. First of all I am not a management student; I am just an ordinary man. These are just my views and there is no one who can sue me for saying what I need to say? :D
To me it felt in the beginning that Inflation is due to US pumping in more money into Pak. In the sense US didn’t look at their own countries imports and exports and lost the $ value to keep up their pride in today’s world. After which I felt it must be the result of the Iraq War, then I assumed it was due to the Asian’s economy which was building strong against the $.
In reality after going through a lot of research I conclude upon my views as to what was the root cause? Fact that Inflation started with the Oil supplying countries. The fact is Oil countries are getting equipped with all the things that they would need once the oil is exhausted. As you are aware, these countries need a lot of energy resource, i.e. electricity, raw material etc. When they need these, who do they approach? They approach the US. Now let’s look at the broaded perspective, where does US get their oil pumped from? The same countries which need to build tallest skyscrapers to the movie style living. In turn the oil countries didn’t get enough $ for their needs and the fuel prices shot up.
With fuel prices shooting to an all time high, the worst impact was countries where huge population uses transportation, now the transportation charges increased and that would first affect the cost of vegetables & commodities coming from the farmers and the middle class section to the processing units to the local retailer. Where will the cost of this transport be recovered? The buyer, who else? The price rise of virtually all groceries will increase. This will mean that for a common working man like me, he will have to spend more on his daily needs, and thus he will be able to save less in the process.
In turn to compensate for the rise in food prices, the self employed people, like doctors, lawyers and the business class will start charging more at their profession. Once your general transportation, medical, food expenses increase, our savings would further decrease. Then we will demand more from your employer. The employer thus then spends more on employees, hence increasing the expenditure of the company. With this our investors, who are not happy with increase in the expenditure. In turn reduces the company’s stock price. To compensate, the company charges more from its clients. This causes a ripple effect. Thus the inflation chain cycle has begun.
Looking at the chain of event from above para, I feel the rising international oil price has been the root cause of Inflation. In the mean time, what does the country do about Inflation? Increase the Taxes and penalize the common man. Today the cost of living is so much, that it wouldn't be surprising if fuel prices shoot up from Rs 55/liter petrol to Rs. 250/Liter petrol in 5 years. Who is to blame for this? It’s us who have nominated the Dirty Politicians to their post. Now the ground reality, in a country where people with below $1.25 per day revenue is so high, the richer will get rich by hiking the price the ones who get impacted would be the middle classes and the poorer who would be still trying to make it rich. Which doesn’t happen? As anyone thought what would happen to the world if it goes with the kind of speed its heading today? I know not, but having knowledge of these issues does make once life less complicate and ground reality of the issues.
Today's question,
H E A L T H Y C O N C E R N
Finally it dawned upon me that there is something wrong with my inner body parts. So, I took a day off from work today to go to the doctor. Before I go ahead with today’s events, let me give you a back ground of my life’s healthy reality.
I smoke (Regular)
I drink (Occasionally)
I regularly go to the Gym (A practise which I love)
I have proper meals (On time and more at times)
I have never got myself checked with a Doctor in my life
With the above routine who wouldn’t get sick? So, with the pain reoccurring when I was at work. I asked few of my colleagues what might be the cause. woooo each one gave their own views. Such as, it might be a liver failure, it might be a kidney failure, it might be your pancreas...Man Pancreas, I mean I was wondering, Liver understood – May be drinking issue, Kidney – May be drinking issue, But Pancreas – I had no clue.
With this issue around all day all week, I started thinking about it a lot and the pain started to increase. As someone says” you keep thinking about it and it gets worse”. I didn’t dare inform about the pain to my Parents, I didn’t want them to get worried about it. I had no other choice but to call my darling sister (Who is in New York) and tell her about my halath, did I need to do it? Yes, I mean she is my Angle and I tell her every god damn thing in the world. Now, she got worried and she immediately called WOKHARDT and asked me to check in the middle of the night at 2:00am. I was like man I should have kept quiet.
It took me some means to convince her that it was not that serious of an issue and I would visit the hospital first thing in the morning and get myself diagnosed.
So, came back from work slept at 5:00am woke to mom’s calling at 9:30am, called the doc and fixed an appointment. Finally I was at WOKHARDT at 11:30am, I saw faces in the lobby and everyone seemed to have a worried face, what else can you expect at a hospital? I mean apart from people recovering, everyone would be worried when it’s a Hospital.
Anyways, back to my check up, I met the receptionist and she asked me to fill some forms. Then I was sent to the Dr Prakash, nice chap but a bit weird look on his face asked me to get myself an Ultrasonic Scan. I went to the other lady at the diagnostic lab, she gave me a bottle of water and asked me to sit. I sat thinking Ahh.. Good service provided, nice to have some customer delights. I drank a bit of water and was waiting for my name to be called for scanning, 10 min up,20 min up, 30 min up, 3 people seated beside me went in and came out of the scanning room. Now, I was the only one left, and no one was even looking at me, finally I lost my patience and asked the lady as to when be my turn. She said “Sir you got to finish the bottle of water which I gave you, so that you have a full bladder for your scanning”. I was like What the F$%^^? And wondering what would I do in the scanning room with my bladder full, pee? Then Dr Prakash told me it’s for the scanning as the scanned images would be clearer with a full bladder. Uff Man I should have studied medicine. Anyways, finally I got my turn and I explained the doctor about my pain and the area which need attention, he applied some liquid on my tummy and scanned the whole area for any possible spare part damages.
Finally the results, the doctor said “You are as fit as a Horse” lol...I had the biggest weird smiles ever. He also confirmed that due to me missing my meals (changing my eating habits for the past few days) I had some gastric issue, he gave me some pills and hail presto I was out of the hospital and way back home thinking about attending the party I had tomorrow.... :D And one more day to live...
Lastly I do have plans to quit smoking and drinking very soon.

India is the 6th country to have launched a spacecraft to the Moon. The spacecraft probe will orbit the Moon (The probe itself weighs 1380kg and cost $80 million), compiling a 3-D atlas of the lunar surface and mapping the distribution of elements and minerals. The launch is regarded as a major step for India and India’s as it seeks to keep pace with other space-faring nations in Asia. Which is the Good part?
Chandrayaan-1, India's maiden lunar mission, sits on the launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India, ahead of takeoff on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008. (AP / Indian Space Research Organization)
Ground Reality, from the critics perspective like I “regards the space program as a waste of resources in a country where millions still lack basic services”. If you ask why I have few questions which have no satisfying answers?
The cost, despite the vast amount still needed to lift hundreds of millions out of poverty. Does anyone know the poverty rate in India? (Percentage of people living below the $1.25 a day was 42 percent in 2005). Does anyone know the cost of the Moon Mission? It’s a whooping 3.86 Billion rupees ($80 Million). You know it's Billion not Million.
Do you believe US launched numerous mission to the Moon in the last 3 decades? Yes you do,Right. Are they living on the Moon? Are they getting any resources or minerals from the Moon which is looking at their daily needs? Is it making any difference for the people in US in today’s world? No Right, they are still the same, The only useful or rather if you say benefit about this program is that India & Indian's can proudly say we are the 6th Country who has launched spacecraft onto the Moon.
Again, I have few more questions unanswered, worst case scenarios. What if the spacecraft doesn’t reach the Moon in 8 days? What benefits will 1 Billion people get out of this mission? Who is going to answer to the 3.86 billion rupees? Come on, let’s be practical and try to get some answers here.
Today’s question...

Ross and I are friends for the past 29 years; he was born on 20th Aug 1979 (2 months prior to me). He is been a friend ever since I can remember life, it’s been a great journey of friendship with Ross. He is a Leo where as I am a Scorpio in terms of Zodiac. Man you know how many times we have fought which zodiac is superior.
All our life we shared our views, fought, clubbed each other, studied in the same school, same college, worked at the same firm (for few months only), made friends, drank beer till early mornings, have been caught stealing at home, have exchanged our clothes , have been to numerous trips and have had some very wonderful un forgetful moments.
The sad part is, Ross who is working as a Global Manager presently is moving to Shangai, CHINA on my birthday the 26th OCT 2008, just 2 more days. Though his wife would be leaving in a months time. I will miss him a lots. No one to drink beer on weekends, no one to share my views. But as someone says, every good thing needs to come to an end. Lol Man doesn’t me sound weird. Just kidding.
I am actually happy for Ross, who has worked his way professionally deserves a professional break. Dude I know what this break means to you, have a wonderful life ahead. I am proud to be your friend. But I will miss you the most.

A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the operational track.
The train is coming, and you are just beside the track interchange. You can make the train change its course to the disused track and save most of the kids. However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way?
Let's take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make................
.
.
.
.
.
Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only one child. You might think the same way, I guess. Exactly, I thought the same way initially because to save most of the children at the expense of only one child was rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally. But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place?
Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday. In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society, the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how farsighted and knowledgeable the minority are. The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational track was sidelined. And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him.
The great critic Leo Velski Julian who told the story said he would not try to change the course of the train because he believed that the kids playing on the operational track should have known very well that track was still in use, and that they should have run away if they heard the train's sirens. If the train was diverted, that lone child would definitely die because he never thought the train could come over to that track! Moreover, that track was not in use probably because it was not safe. If the train was diverted to the track, we could put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in your attempt to save a few kids by sacrificing one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds of people to save these few kids.
While we are all aware that life is full of tough decisions that need to be made, we may not realize that hasty decisions may not always be the right one.

Today I was reading about paranoia in today’s world. A leading psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Freeman from King’s College London has carried out a decade long research and found that one in four people suffer irrational fears of either being threatened or in danger on a regular basis. In fact paranoia is far more common than had been suspected and is on the rise, as a growing result inequity, social isolation and a far more competitive society.
Thinking about it, yes the world has changed. How many of them today send their children out to play in the streets? I don’t think any of them do. When I was young I had the freedom of playing in the streets. We seems to have entered an age of paranoia, people don’t let their children play outside, we are suspicious of strangers, wherever you go you have security cameras following your ever move. Life seems to have changed on a broader perspective since my childhood.
Dr Freeman has developed a “virtual reality” method of diagnosing paranoia, in which participants wear headsets and respond to a simulated environment and then complete a set of questionnaires. I don’t know if this method works fine. He also mentions that rates of paranoia are 2 times higher in cities than in rural areas. Of course why not, with the increased number of people and the fast life in cities, who wouldn’t get paranoid? Increased paranoia is certainly a challenge posed by the galloping urbanisation.
So, today's question is

OUTSOURCING B O O N - R - P A I N
I joined this industry 6 years back, when every tom dick and harry wanted a profession to earn a living. As I moved on with life and my profession I have lot of questions arising within me.
Way back in 2004, when Gregory Mankiw, Bush’s chief economist said that foreign outsourcing "is probably a plus for the US economy in the long run," reaction was swift. The following day there was a press release by John Kerry saying: "Unlike the Bush Administration, I want to repeal every tax break and loophole that rewards any Benedict Arnold CEO or corporation for shipping American jobs overseas."
Man, didn’t INDIA’s feel proud and honoured at that time with a lot of jobs coming into the INDIAN shores? Yes, We did. But thinking about this whole concept, Let us rethink for a sec.
• Jobs came in, people got employed
• With jobs came in huge consumption of natural resources (Office space, Office material, Computers, Training material etc.) Where did all these come from? INDIA or US?
• With jobs, Night shifts commenced.
• With night shifts, lot of people got to the unforeseen scheduled and life
• With these came in Cabs to Pick people and drop... Just imagine for example Bangalore has about 120,000 BPO employees, to commute them we need at least 35,000 vehicles on an average each given day.
• With the cabs expenses, we needed fuel.
• Consumption of fuel increased, (with global warming around)
• Pollution is at an all time high,
With all the above, today the same commute that used to take me 10 minutes is taking me 30-40 minutes. I know not, if we don’t see the raise in the overall lifestyle and culture. But we surely aren’t looking at the overall picture this might lead, My views if asked about outsourcing if it’s a boon or a pain. I will say it’s a affliction... the fact is it’s a Cycle, you make money with outsourcing, with that you spend on a lot on raw material consumption. BUT day by day the RAW material prices are going up in turn you are spending more on the same, today if you buy 10 household items how many are Indian? How much of your money is going into the INDIAN economy? How many of you think of this? Uff, I know not if the above makes any sense, but I strongly feel we need to look at these things on a broader perspective...

L I L - P R O J E C T O R
I am really amazed with the gadgets in today’s world. Though, I am not a complete materialistic person. I do have my own likes and dislikes keeping the environment & global warming in mind.
Recently, one of my good old pals from UK told me about a cheap UK 100 pound Projector. I thought let me try to get one too…I asked him to pick it up and in turn he asked me to check on the web and let him know if something else interests me.
So, I started hunt for a projector. First thing that came to my mind was of the requirement and specifications. I am not geek when it comes to projectors.
So I went online in search of some reviews, comments and suggestions from super humans of our age. In the search I found many not so impressive projectors for my need.
Until I came to know that many companies are making it public that they are contentious trying to minimize their DLP projector for the embedded mobile phone projector market. God, what a cool idea? Projector for a mobile phone, Man I would love to have one. Though, it appears the prototype is only an imitation of some stripped out of a Blackberry or a smart phone to make room for the projector and driving electronics for the DLP chip. This is really not that unique. But, does sound like a good gadget to have.
As I went on searching online, look what I came across..

Though, the reviews of this projector is mixed with +ve and –ve. I would rather try it out myself and see how it works, you know what this is compactable with your mobile phones as well as Laptops.
